“Mommy, I need you.”
“Mommy, I need you,” calls the small voice through the dark. “Mommy, I need you. I need snuggles to go to sleep.”
“Mommy, I need you,” say the cries of the baby in the middle of the night. “Mommy, I need you. I need your comforting arms to hold me tight.”
“Mommy, I need you,” screams the small child. “Mommy, I need you. I fell and scraped my knee.”
“Mommy, I need you,” smiles the baby. “Mommy, I need you. I need your love.”
On the days when we are ready to throw up our hands and run away screaming because of the messes, the tantrums, the disobedience, it’s easy to forget how much our children need us. It feels like we only exist to wipe noses, cleanup messes, and fill empty tummies.
Yet, there are those moments when our children remind us of how much they simply need us. They need our love, our support, our caring.
So Momma, don’t despair. You aren’t simply the maid. You are needed for so much more.
